“Fin” Photoshoot #1

I chose these photo because of its strong focal point, paired with the repeating pattern of the rectangles. I like the use of the shallow depth of field to emphasize the contrast in the black-and-white photos. The colour scheme consists of warm yellows and oranges which symbolise the fondness that accompanies nostalgia.

The detail on the book’s back creates a texture that captures light and colour in a way that makes it seem gold. I like warm colours surrounded by the sharp highlights and deep shadows –all of which create a dramatic and impactful photo. I would argue that this is the best photo of that photoshoot.​

I like this photo because of the asymmetry that I’ve achieved. It doesn’t feel unbalanced but unnatural in a quiet and gentle way. This is my most symbolic picture and I feel that it is successful in the way it creates atmosphere and mood without being extra or on the nose. The colour is warm and inviting which is what I wanted.​

This is the most successful rim lighting photo I’ve done. I like it because of the mysterious atmosphere it creates. I love the details with the glowing hair strands and the semi-transparent dress highlighting her figure and face. The theatre location and symbolism is what I believe is the best part of the photo.​

The white dress captures the light in way that makes the background flat and empty, forcing the viewer to confront the figure, as well as the feelings the photo evokes. I would consider this photo one of my best ones.​
